Rachel Nunn

Registered Mental Health Nurse

Rachel is a highly experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse who qualified in 2009. Since qualifying approximately 17 years ago, she has dedicated her career to working within Children and Young People's Mental Health Services (CAMHS), supporting children, young people and their families with a wide range of emotional, behavioural and mental health difficulties.

Throughout her career, Rachel has worked as a Mental Health Therapist, Case Manager, Specialist Nurse and Clinical Coordinator, developing extensive expertise in the assessment and treatment of children and young people presenting with complex mental health needs. She has significant experience working with young people experiencing emotional dysregulation, anxiety, trauma, neurodevelopmental differences and those at risk of requiring intensive mental health support.

For the past six years, Rachel has specialised in providing intensive, community-based support to children and young people experiencing significant mental health crises. Working closely with families and the wider professional network, she delivers coordinated, evidence-based interventions aimed at reducing the need for hospital admission, supporting young people to remain safely within their home and community wherever possible.

Rachel has extensive experience in triaging and managing referrals into specialist mental health services, coordinating care, and undertaking comprehensive initial mental health and risk assessments. Her ability to formulate complex presentations and develop collaborative, person-centred care plans ensures that children, young people and families receive timely, appropriate and effective support.

Rachel also has extensive experience in neurodevelopmental assessments and is passionate about ensuring that therapeutic interventions are accessible, meaningful and tailored to the needs of neurodivergent children and young people. She has considerable expertise in adapting evidence-based therapies, including Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), to meet the individual needs of children and young people with autism, ADHD and other neurodevelopmental differences, enabling therapy to be engaging, effective and developmentally appropriate.

Alongside her clinical work, Rachel has held leadership roles within specialist CAMHS services, contributing to service development, multidisciplinary working and the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care. She is committed to working collaboratively with families and professionals to create safe, compassionate and effective therapeutic experiences that recognise each young person's unique strengths, needs and goals.

Rachel's approach is warm, compassionate and non-judgemental. She believes that trusting therapeutic relationships are central to positive outcomes and is passionate about empowering children, young people and their families to understand their experiences, build resilience and create lasting, meaningful change.
